FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does the template comply with the EU Machinery Regulation?
The template provides the structure that the Machinery Regulation and DIN EN ISO 20607 expect. Responsibility for the content (risk assessment, residual risks, machine-specific information) remains with the manufacturer. The template does not replace legal advice.
May I supply the operating manual in digital form only?
Yes, since Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 digital delivery has been permitted (Art. 10(7)). On request you must provide a paper copy free of charge within one month; for machinery intended for non-professional users, safety information must additionally be enclosed in paper form.
How do I keep the manual permanently available in digital form?
The Machinery Regulation requires availability for the expected lifetime of the machine, at least 10 years. docks.io attaches the manual to a permanent QR code on the machine — updates appear under the same code, versioned and accessible without a login.
How do I create an operating manual? Step by step
This sequence has proven effective: (1) Start from the risk assessment — it provides the residual risks and warnings. (2) Set up the structure according to DIN EN ISO 20607 — exactly the structure of this template. (3) Fill the chapters with machine-specific content: technical data, transport, commissioning, operation, maintenance schedule with intervals, troubleshooting table. (4) Add the declaration of conformity and applicable documents to the annex. (5) Have it reviewed (four-eyes principle) and versioned. (6) Provide it digitally — via a QR code on the machine, so the manual stays permanently accessible in the correct version.
