FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is an EU declaration of conformity?

The legally binding declaration by the manufacturer that a machine complies with all applicable requirements of EU legislation — from 20 January 2027 the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, before that the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. It is a prerequisite for CE marking and is issued under the sole responsibility of the manufacturer.

Which details are mandatory?

The manufacturer (and, where applicable, the authorised representative), the person responsible for documentation established in the EU, the unique identification of the machine, the declaration of conformity naming the relevant legislation, the notified body where applicable, the harmonised standards applied, plus place, date and signature. The template maps exactly this structure.

Must the declaration of conformity accompany the machine?

The declaration of conformity belongs to the machine and must be accessible to the operator — it is part of the documentation to be supplied and must be kept for 10 years. Proven practice: store the declaration digitally in the machine file behind the QR code of the machine, versioned and permanently accessible. That is exactly what docks.io does.
